Tailgunner Ted Cruz, who many serious people consider to be a serious candidate for the presidency, went over to the Heritage Foundation the other day, let his freak flag fly, and touching on recent American political history.
"The willingness to say all those crazy things is a rare, rare characteristic," Cruz told the audience at a gathering held by the conservative Heritage Foundation. "And you know what? It's every bit as true now as it was then. We need a hundred more like Jesse Helms in the U.S. Senate."
im电竞官网-Point The First: By sponsoring something called the Jesse Helms Lecture Series, the Heritage Foundation demonstrates that the difference between it and, say, is not vast.
Point The Second: In 2002, Senator Trent Lott, then the Minority Leader of the U.S. Senate, said some complimentary things about another old rancid bag of racist sins, Strom Thurmond. When it got out, it cost Lott his leadership position and, ultimately, his seat. I predict what Ted Cruz said won't even slow him down. Once again, however, I do despair of the rebranding.
